The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to conduct a valid House of Representatives primary election ahead of the August 16, 2025 bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

In an official correspondence dated July 21, 2025, and signed by the Acting Administrative Secretary of INEC in Oyo State, Rosemary Alaba Adeniyi, the Commission disclosed that the APC primary election scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, did not take place anywhere in Oyo State.

A follow-up report signed by Kehinde Omisile, the Acting Head of Department, Election and Party Monitoring, further revealed that all efforts made by the Commission to monitor the purported APC primary were abortive.

This revelation has raised serious concerns about the preparedness and internal coordination of the APC in Oyo State, especially at a time when voters expect transparency, orderliness, and lawful conduct from political parties.

In sharp contrast, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues to distinguish itself through strict adherence to due process and electoral guidelines.

The PDP successfully conducted its House of Representatives primary election on Monday, July 21, 2025, under the full supervision of INEC officials, security agencies, and accredited party delegates.

The process was peaceful, credible, and a true reflection of the party’s internal cohesion and commitment to democratic values.

This development has further reinforced growing public confidence in the PDP as a party that respects the rule of law, values orderly conduct, and upholds the principles of transparency in its internal operations.

As the August 16 bye-election approaches, while the APC grapples with internal disorganization and procedural irregularities, the PDP stands out as a symbol of political stability, maturity, and responsible leadership.
