The Mayegun Babanumi Mandate Group has formally aligned with the Accord Party in Ibadan North West Local Government, as thousands of supporters from both the PDP and Accord Party converged on Ebenezer Primary School, Salvation Army Road, Ibadan, on Wednesday.

The alignment comes after Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi emerged as the sole Accord Party candidate for the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

Addressing the crowd at the school’s playground, Babanumi welcomed attendees and thanked them for their confidence in his candidacy.

He expressed gratitude to Accord Party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, the Oyo State Accord Party Chairman and his executives, as well as party leaders in Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West, for accepting him and his group into the party.

“I appreciate the seamless absorption of the Mayegun Babanumi Mandate Group into the Accord Party fold,” he said. “The display of fairness and equity within the party to all aspirants is commendable.”

Babanumi thanked party leaders, constituents, and members for adopting him as the sole candidate for the House of Representatives seat.

He said their belief in his integrity and capacity to deliver proper representation was humbling.

He promised the crowd “genuine and honest representation” and reassured them of his “people-first” commitment.

“My focus remains infrastructural development, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Babanumi stated.

The aspirant also called for more unity and cooperation among all party aspirants to ensure victory in the forthcoming elections.

Party leaders at the event described the alignment as a major boost for Accord Party in Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West, noting that Babanumi’s entry had strengthened the party’s base ahead of the 2027 polls.

The meeting ended with chants of solidarity from supporters who pledged to work for the party’s success.
