Health isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s the bedrock of a life worth living, the quiet pulse that allows a child chase dream. It is the quietness of the human soul, a fragile yet fierce pulse that beats beneath every laugh, every tear, every step we dare to take.

It’s not just the absence of pain, it’s the spark that lets a heart dream, that allows a hand to create and a mind to tackle the challenges of life. How tender it is, how easily a cough can dim a day’s joy or plan, how swiftly a fever can snatch away hope.

Yet, it’s the mightiest force we’ve got, the stubborn root that keeps us standing when the world tries to knock us flat. I see health as life’s truest poetry; delicate, sacred, and worth every fight, because without it, we’re just shadows chasing light we can’t hold.

I also believe so strongly that health is more than a word we throw around; it’s the root of every life that matters, and I see people’s health as sacred, not for show, but because a sick body or State can’t stand up straight.

More importantly, I think Primary Health Care (PHC) Centres are our best shot, not high-end hospitals, but local clinics patching up cuts, stopping fevers cold, and keeping folks from flooding hospital wards with minor aches.

I’ve been to a few health posts across our State, I’ve seen the chipped paint and worn-out nurses and doctors, and I know our big hospitals are swamped with cases PHCs could mop up.

That’s a knot we should all be ready to untangle.

PHCs are vital because they catch health issues fast, like malaria or baby weigh-ins, before they turn into messes that choke our hospitals.

The available stats call for general concerns: only about 20% of our 30,000 PHCs are up to scratch, according to a 2023 report by the WHO, and Oyo state hospitals are drowning in patients who just need a bandage.

I believe if every ward’s PHC does its job, we can let hospitals focus on the big fights like surgeries and other serious health issues.

That’s not just a hope; it’s a plan, and I’m all in for it. No mother should lose a day’s pay for a sore throat a local nurse could fix, and no doctor should be stuck doling out cough syrup.

This is why I’m over the moon about the Ifesowapo Oluwo Community’s move, kicking off their PHC at Oluwo, Ibadan, last weekend, and I think it’s a wake-up call.

They didn’t wait for a handout; they are about to build a spot where immediate health issues get handled.

That is very laudable, I commend the leadership of the community and every brain behind the initiative.

I was glad to pitch in N300,000 and promise more until that centre is standing tall, – this is worth mentioning, not to show off, but because I back those who go extra miles for the greater good.

I believe every local community in Oyo state should take a page from their book, not for cheers, but because health is fundamental, and it serves the greater good.

When PHCs step up, loaded with drugs and nurses who actually show, hospitals can do what they’re meant for.

I’ve seen health systems work in places where clinics sticks to their lane, and there is no doubt that we can pull this off in Oyo state, too, we just have to get the gut and will to do so.

My way of governing is not about loud promises or band-aid fixes, rather, it’s about making sure every ward’s PHC is a solid to attend to its core mandates, so our hospitals aren’t sinking in crowds.

My style is not to preach from a high chair, – I’m big and more concerned about initiatives that truly count, and I’m here to push for a health system that doesn’t buckle under its own weight. I see the Ifesowapo Oluwo PHC has not just a win for Ifesowapo community alone; it should be an inspiration for every community across Oyo State to light up.

I’m backing it, and I’ll back more, because health isn’t politics—it’s the people.

If you stand with my run, you’re standing for a cause that enables every life to get the care it deserves.

That’s not just an ideology – it’s the reality of the Oyo state we can build together, and I’m ready to roll. Are you?
