Ambassador Saheed Adeleke Adewale, Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Councillor representing Ward 9 in the forthcoming local government elections.

The declaration was made on Thursday, July 9, 2026, during the Ward 9 general meeting, where party leaders, executives, stakeholders, youths, women and members unanimously welcomed his aspiration with overwhelming support.










 




Prior to making his public declaration, Ambassador Saheed had paid a courtesy visit to the ward executives to officially intimate them of his intention to seek the party’s nomination.

He later presented and publicly read his letter of interest before party members, a gesture that was widely applauded as a demonstration of transparency, humility and respect for the party’s leadership structure.

In his declaration, Ambassador Saheed said his aspiration was inspired by a genuine desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ward 9.

“With a deep sense of duty and respect for our people, I hereby declare my intention to contest for the office of Councillor of Ward 9, Ibadan North Local Government.

 

This decision is borne out of my commitment to service, accountability and the progress of our dear ward.

“My aspiration is not for title, but for impact. I am driven by the desire to promote responsive governance, youth inclusion, women empowerment, welfare for our elders and support for party leadership.

“I humbly seek your support, prayers and partnership as we embark on this journey together.

May Allah guide our steps, grant us peace and make this cause one of progress for all, Insha’Allah.”

The declaration attracted glowing endorsements from several apex leaders and stakeholders of the ward, who described Ambassador Saheed as a loyal party man with an impressive record of service and commitment.

Among the notable leaders present were Hon. Shina Badmus, Alhaji Nasiru Muhammed, Mama Falade, Hon. Ajala and other party executives and stakeholders.

In his word, Hon. Shina Badmus described Ambassador Saheed’s declaration as one that reflected the wishes of the people.

According to him, the enthusiastic response from party members clearly showed that Ambassador Saheed enjoys widespread acceptance across the ward.

“I have observed the mood of everyone here today.

The people want him, and they are genuinely happy with his decision to contest.

That, to me, is a clear sign of legitimacy from the grassroots,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaji Nasiru Muhammed noted that although several individuals had indicated interest in the councillorship position, Ambassador Saheed’s declaration stood out because of the sincerity, maturity and respect he demonstrated throughout the process.

Mama Falade, in her remarks, described the aspirant as a humble, respectful and disciplined young leader who has consistently projected the image of Ward 9 positively.

“He has carried himself with humility and respect. He has been a good ambassador of Ward 9 and has always maintained a cordial relationship with party members,” she said.

Representatives of the youths, women and other interest groups also took turns to commend Ambassador Saheed for effectively utilizing his position as Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government to positively impact party members and residents.

They praised his generosity, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of party faithful, noting that he had consistently shared whatever benefits accrued from his office with members of the party.

Responding to the overwhelming show of support, Ambassador Saheed expressed profound appreciation to the ward leadership, executives and members for the confidence reposed in him.

He assured them that, if given the opportunity to represent Ward 9 as Councillor, he would provide quality, people-oriented and inclusive representation that would complement the developmental strides already being recorded in Ibadan North Local Government.

As a mark of appreciation, Ambassador Saheed donated ₦50,000 to party members at the meeting, while Alhaji Nasiru Muhammed also supported the gathering with an additional ₦50,000.

In what many described as another major highlight of the meeting, Ambassador Saheed used the occasion to publicly endorse the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for a second term in office.

He described Hon. Olufade as a visionary and people-oriented leader whose administration has delivered remarkable developmental projects across the local government.

According to him, his ambition to represent Ward 9 is aimed at complementing the chairman’s achievements by ensuring effective representation and accelerated grassroots development at the ward level.

He concluded by thanking the leaders, executives and members of Ward 9 for their love, encouragement and overwhelming acceptance, assuring them that he would not take their confidence and support for granted.
