The mass defection, which took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, is seen as a major political realignment ahead of the forthcoming general elections in the state.
According to one of the defectors, the move was facilitated by two prominent political mobilizers, Hon. Adeyemo Abass, popularly known as Adebass, and Hon. Afolabi Oyegbola. He said their decision to pitch tent with the APM was borne out of their conviction to support all candidates of the party across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
Presenting the decampees to the gathering, Hon. Abass and Hon. Oyegbola stated that resetting Nigeria and building a more prosperous Oyo State is a collective responsibility that requires all hands to be on deck.
They noted that the APM remains the most viable platform to deliver good governance and people-oriented programmes.

They described the former Ward Councillors as core grassroots politicians with verifiable records of electoral value, deep community connections, and unwavering commitment to a better Oyo State. According to them, their entry into the APM will significantly boost the party’s chances at the polls.
The defectors were jointly received by the Balogun Bobajiroro of Orile-Igbon, Otunba Seye Famojuro, who is also a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Oyo State chapter, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seu! Olufade, the Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Qozeem Olayanju, and the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, among other leaders of the party.
In their remarks some leaders who received the defectors on behalf of the party leadership, welcomed them into the APM family, assuring them of equal opportunities, fairness, and full inclusion in all party activities.
They charged them to return to their respective wards and local governments to mobilize more supporters, while urging them to remain loyal and work assiduously for the victory of all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The defectors, in their separate responses, pledged their total loyalty to the APM and promised to deploy their grassroots political experience to ensure the success of the party in Oyo State.
