The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Oluwatobi Olufade has urged residents of Ibadan North Local Government and Nigerians to troop out en masse to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commences nationwide distribution.
Hon. Olufade made the appeal while speaking at a health outreach organized by the Oyo State Ministry of Health in collaboration with eye health professionals, partner NGOs and Ibadan North Local Government held at Ibadan North Local Government Hall.



























The event themed; “LOVE YOUR EYE: PROTECT YOUR VISION, SEE CLEARLY, LIVE FULLY” was held in commemoration of 2026 World Sight Day and benefited hundreds of residents.
The World Sight Day outreach aimed to increase awareness of preventable vision loss, expand access to eye care services, and link residents to follow‑up care.
The programme featured : Health talk addressing eye care and general wellness; Comprehensive screening exercises for eye conditions; Free distribution of eyeglasses to eligible beneficiaries; Administration of essential medications and treatment; Blood sugar testing for early detection of diabetes-related eye complications; Provision of free cataract surgery for qualified patients.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade commended the Oyo State Ministry of Health and its partners for organising the outreach. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to public welfare: “My administration is committed to supporting initiatives that improve the well‑being of our people. To God be the glory, we have organised many health programmes for our people. We have enrolled over 300 residents in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme in the first and second phases respectively; the third phase is on the pipeline. We did not joke with our people’s well‑being and health. We are here to ensure that free health services are available and accessible to those who need them.”Council Chairman’s Remarks.
The Ibadan North Local Government chairman urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the services provided and pledged ongoing support: “Count on my support any day, any time.”





Hon. Olufade used the platform to appeal directly to residents: “Secure your future with your PVC and vote for reliable candidates in the Allied People’s Movement in order to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy and you will not regret it.”
He encouraged eligible voters to collect their PVCs promptly as INEC begins distribution.
Dr. Akintunde Ayinde, Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Ministry of Health, who led the Ministry and NGO’s team, explained the importance of eye health and commended the council chairman for his cooperation. “We informed the chairman only a few hours before the programme and he genuinely accepted and provided all the logistics we needed. That shows the well‑being of your people is paramount to you, we really appreciate that. Keep it up,” he said.
Dr. Aminat Aboderin, in her welcome address, thanked the Ministry of Health and partners for the initiative and praised the council chairman for his consistent support of health programmes in Ibadan North. She encouraged residents to visit their nearest primary health care facilities for free eye tests and to use the services when necessary.
