Residents and constituents of Olorisa, a community in Akinyele State Constituency II of Oyo State, have raised concerns over what they described as an attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the constituency, Hon. Tunde Jelil Owoade, to take credit for a borehole project allegedly executed by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the community.
The residents, who expressed displeasure over the development, called on Owoade to desist from allegedly parading the project as one of his personal interventions, insisting that the borehole was provided by an NGO that visited the community to undertake the intervention.

According to concerned residents, the APC candidate has reportedly been moving around claiming ownership of the borehole project, despite the fact that he was not responsible for its execution.
The community members further described the situation as particularly troubling, considering that the borehole project he hijacked itself failed to deliver its intended purpose, as it reportedly did not reach a water-bearing level.
They lamented that the project, which was expected to provide relief to residents and address their water needs, was allegedly executed below expectations, leaving the community without the anticipated benefit of access to clean water.

The residents questioned the rationale behind allegedly taking credit for a project that, according to them, was neither executed by the APC candidate nor successfully delivered to the community.
Consequently, the people of Olorisa have issued a stern warning to Hon. Tunde Jelil Owoade, urging him to refrain from making claims of ownership over projects executed by other individuals or organisations.
They maintained that political credibility should be built on transparency, accountability and verifiable contributions to the development of communities rather than claims over interventions undertaken by others.
The residents also stressed that communities deserve honest representation, adding that any politician seeking public office should be prepared to demonstrate genuine commitment to addressing the challenges confronting the people.
They therefore challenged the APC candidate to clarify his alleged claims regarding the borehole project and allow the NGO responsible for the intervention to receive appropriate recognition for its efforts.
