Olufade Commends Oyo PHC Board, Assures Support For Successful Polio Immunisation Exercise In Ibadan North

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has commended the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board for its efforts towards sustaining a polio-free environment, assuring the board of the local government’s full support for the forthcoming Operation Keep Polio at Zero campaign.

Olufade gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting involving health workers and other relevant stakeholders in Ibadan North Local Government, where participants deliberated on strategies to ensure the success of the forthcoming polio immunisation exercise.

The council chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the health sector and supporting initiatives that promote the well-being and healthy living of residents.

He assured the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board that Ibadan North Local Government would provide the necessary support and enabling environment to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the immunisation exercise.

Olufade also commended the Medical Officer of Health of Ibadan North Local Government, Dr. Aboderin Aminat, and the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Samson Ajala, Chairman World development committee on health (WDC) Baba Yisa Ayilara, for their dedication, professionalism and contributions to healthcare delivery in the council area.

He expressed confidence in their ability to effectively coordinate health-related programmes and deliver on the responsibilities entrusted to them, reaffirming the local government’s readiness to work with all relevant stakeholders towards achieving the objectives of the campaign.

The chairman further appealed to parents and guardians across Ibadan North to present their children aged 0–59 months for the polio vaccination, stressing the importance of immunisation in protecting children against the poliovirus and preventing lifelong paralysis.

He urged residents to cooperate with health workers and ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine during the exercise.

Also present at the stakeholders’ meeting was the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Ogunlade, alongside other health officials and stakeholders.
