Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), has hinted that he will soon make a major announcement regarding his political future following what he described as ongoing “critical political conversations” within the party.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kareem said recent developments within the APC had tested both “resolve and strategy,” but assured his supporters that consultations were progressing and that a definitive position would be communicated in the coming days.
“I wish to state clearly that critical political conversations are currently advancing, and I am actively and rigorously reviewing the immediate realities before me,” he said.
Kareem noted that his governorship aspiration was driven by conviction and not mere ambition.
“My aspiration for the governorship was a decision of pure conviction, taken only after deep intellectual reflection and extensive grassroots consultation—backed by a meticulously researched policy blueprint detailing exactly how we intend to govern,” he stated.
The APC chieftain emphasized that any decision he takes would be guided by the overall interest of the party and his supporters.
“I am completely capable of making highly informed, strategic decisions that protect the overarching interest of our great party and the future of my loyal supporters,” he said.
Kareem also stressed the importance of inclusiveness, saying “every legitimate stakeholder must be actively consulted and involved in decisions that bind us all.”
He added that after concluding a “brief and reflective phase” of consultations, he would “definitively communicate” how he and his supporters would move forward in the Oyo 2027 governorship race.
