We Will Meet the Governor

A leading aspirant in Lagelu Local Government and respected political figure, Mogaji Honorable Olajide Olatoye, popularly known as Big Daddy Sugar, has dismissed reports claiming that Honorable Akintunde A.K.T has been endorsed for a third term in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

In a detailed reaction, Big Daddy Sugar clarified that no such endorsement took place at the leaders’ meeting recently held in Lagelu, stressing that the information circulating in some quarters is false and misleading.

According to him, the meeting was convened strictly for consultations among party leaders, but ended without any resolution due to what he described as irregularities and unacceptable interference in the process.

“I was not present at any gathering where Honorable Akintunde A.K.T was endorsed. What we attended was a leaders’ meeting, and there was no conclusion because of several issues and concerns raised by stakeholders,” he said.

He alleged that the process was disrupted by one Mr. Tunde Tijani, accusing him of attempting to impose a decision on leaders under questionable circumstances.

Big Daddy Sugar further criticized Tijani’s involvement, noting that he is not a native of Lagelu Local Government and lacks proper understanding of the political structure and traditions of the area.

“It is unfortunate that someone who is not from our local government would try to dictate to us how to run our affairs.

He went as far as telling leaders that the directive to impose A.K.T for a third term came from the governor, which is highly questionable,” he added.

Big Daddy Sugar maintained that such claims linking the endorsement to Governor Seyi Makinde are unfounded, emphasizing that the governor is known for his commitment to fairness, due process, and internal democracy.

He described the alleged endorsement report as a fabrication orchestrated by agents seeking to misinform the public and create confusion within the party ranks in Lagelu.

“The news of any endorsement is completely fabricated. It does not reflect what transpired at the meeting.

Our collective agreement as leaders was clear — we will take our concerns directly to the governor for proper clarification,” he stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to unity and democratic principles, Big Daddy Sugar called on party members and stakeholders in Lagelu to remain calm and avoid being swayed by misinformation.

He concluded by reiterating that the next step agreed upon by all stakeholders is to seek audience with Governor Makinde to ensure transparency and a fair process moving forward.

The development highlights growing tensions within political circles in Lagelu Local Government, as stakeholders continue to push for due process ahead of future electoral decisions.
