The executive chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has congratulated Ambassador Taofeeq Arapaja on his emergence as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The council boss stated that Arapaja’s political journey has been characterized by vast experience the party urgently needs to rebuild itself adding that he has been closely watched and deeply admired by politicians regardless of age brackets.

Olatunji described Arapaja’s victory as “a round peg in a round hole”.

To Olatunji, the new position is a continuation of what Arapaja has always been known for which he said are steady hands, calm leadership, and a knack for strengthening whatever institution he steps into.

Recall that the election held yesterday at the PDP National Convention in Ibadan, a gathering that witnessed the party’s heavyweights from across the country.

Arapaja had previously served as the party’s National Deputy Chairman (South) before stepping into this new role as member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Olatunji said: “His long public service record remains a central part of his story. A former deputy governor of Oyo State and a one-time Nigerian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Jordan, he has often been seen as one of the party’s institutional stabilizers.”

Olatunji noted that Arapaja’s rise reflects the trust the party continues to place in experienced hands. He added that the people of Oyo, especially those in Oluyole, take pride in seeing one of their own occupy such a strategic role.

He however, expressed optimism and confidence in the capacity of Arapaja to deploy his wealth of experience and knowledge of national politics to help in the rebuilding of the party to properly position it for victory ahead of future elections.
