In furtherance of his pledge to prioritize empowerment and skill development, the Councillor representing Ward 6 in Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Faira, has once again partnered with the non-governmental organization, Changed Life Mission, to train residents of the ward in soap production and wig making.

This second phase of the empowerment drive comes on the heels of his earlier successful collaboration, which equipped 50 residents with fashion design skills.

Determined to expand the economic opportunities for his constituents, Hon. Faira has now introduced training that focuses on soap production—including the making of detergents, perfumes, izal disinfectants, and other fragrant cleaning products as well as wig making, a skill that is in high demand.

The hands-on program, which targets women, widows, and youths, is designed to ensure participants can become self-reliant entrepreneurs.

By broadening the range of skills available to his people, Hon. Faira aims to foster financial independence and reduce unemployment within Ward 6.

Speaking during the opening of the new training program, Hon. Faira expressed satisfaction that his promise of sustained empowerment initiatives is gradually coming to fruition.

He emphasized that the initiative was born out of a genuine commitment to improving lives, stating that these kinds of skills can easily be converted into thriving small businesses that will contribute to household income and the local economy.

“This empowerment is not a one-off event,” Hon. Faira assured. “We are building a foundation for continuous capacity development so that residents of Ward 6 can stand on their own feet.

What we started with fashion design, we are now expanding into soap making and wig production, and there is much more to come.”

He further encouraged beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity by dedicating themselves to learning and practicing the skills, promising that his office will continue to support innovative ways to strengthen local businesses and provide tools that will help trainees establish themselves.

Hon. Faira reiterated that he is committed to turning Ward 6 into a hub of skilled, productive, and financially independent citizens, saying, “This is another chapter in our journey of empowerment.

I will not relent until we see a significant impact on the lives of our people.”

The program has been widely commended by community leaders and residents as a testament to purposeful and people-centered leadership.
