
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, was today conferred with the prestigious “Outstanding Friend of Ibadan” award by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) during the grand finale of the 2025 Ibadan Week celebrations.
The event which took place at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan was attended by eminent personalities including Governor Seyi Makinde, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Former Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal amongst others.
The CCII, the umbrella body for all Ibadan indigenes, acknowledged the Speaker’s efforts in promoting unity, cultural heritage, and infrastructural development within the city.
In his acceptance speech, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin expressed deep gratitude for the honor, stating – “Today, I am deeply honored to receive the Outstanding Friend of Ibadanland Award, and I must say that this is one of the most humbling recognitions of my life.
To be considered a friend of Ibadanland, a city that has shaped politics, governance, and culture across Oyo State and Nigeria, is truly special.”
“I accept this award not just as an individual but as a proof to our shared commitment to progress, unity, and development. Though I hail from Eruwa, Ibadan is my birthplace and holds a special place in my heart.
This recognition by the CCII reinforces my commitment to the progress and prosperity of Ibadanland.”
He further emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in driving development, noting that the legislative arm, under his leadership, will continue to enact laws and policies that favor the growth and well-being of Ibadan and its people.
The 2025 Ibadan Week, organized by the CCII, featured a series of events aimed at celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Ibadan, fostering unity among its people, and recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the city’s advancement.
