In an effort to unite former party members, current party members, stakeholders, and leaders into a formidable force in Oyo West local government, Council Chairman Hon. Prince Salam Akeem Olukitibi organized a reunion get-together for party members in the council area ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

The event took place at the Model Council Secretariat Complex in Ojongbodu, Oyo Township, on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Speaking at the reunion get-together party, Oyo-West Council Chairman, who also doubles as the Chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming local government election, Prince Salam Akeem Olukitibi, urged the warring factions to put aside their differences and work together for the party’s victory at the polls, emphasizing that Oyo West PDP remains united with one voice.

He stated, “It is with great honor and joy that I welcome you all to this reunion/get-together party with our party leaders at the state. The purpose of this event is to unite former and current party members and stakeholders into a strong team and foot soldiers for the party to achieve its goals.”

“For me and on behalf of the good people of Oyo West, it is a great privilege to have you here, and we are grateful for the support that you have given us in making Oyo state great. I also want to acknowledge the efforts of our dear Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in promoting our great People’s Democratic Party.”

“The reunion and get-together party represent the voice of the people and serve as a propellant for the future of our party in the years to come.”

“My fellow party members and respected stakeholders, it’s a fact that the primary elections of all political parties in the state for the next local government elections have concluded. This gathering is an opportunity to plan and strategize for the success of our PDP in the upcoming LG elections.”

“In addition, I urge all party stakeholders and decision-makers to work tirelessly to achieve the party’s goals. Let’s mobilize members and even those from other political parties to support the People’s Democratic Party and its candidates. It’s not just about asking them to vote for us but also educating them on the reasons why they should support good governance as championed by Governor Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde.”

Olukitibi continued, “The key here is to spread the message of PDP in every home, street, area, community, ward, LG, constituency, town, and city. Unity is crucial; let’s recruit more youths and collaborate with various groups and associations. Together, we can achieve party objectives.”

“With this problem-solving approach, I am confident that we will emerge victorious in the next election.”

Regarding the upcoming local government elections, Olukitibi commended the efforts of Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu in Oyo Federal Constituency, describing her as a virtuous woman who advocates for the less privileged.

He also expressed gratitude to Alhaji Chief Musbau Babatunde OLOGBURO for his significant contributions during the last general elections, which had a positive impact on the election results.

“Once again, our prayers and support are with Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, may he succeed in his sustainable development agenda to transform our great state.”

In his goodwill message, the State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, praised the council Chairman, Prince Salam Akeem Olukitibi, for addressing party challenges in the council area and stressed the importance of fairness and unity among party members.

Adeleke emphasized that PDP remains the most people-oriented political party in the southwest, and he predicted a massive victory for the party in the upcoming local government elections.

He urged members to ensure victory for all chairmanship candidates in the Oyo federal constituency, including Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji WABKEM, Hon. Sola Oluokun, Hon. Femi Aikomo, and Salam Akeem Olukitibi.

The event featured an official reunion for party members, introductions of the new O.L.G Chairman, discussions of winning strategies for the forthcoming local elections, a get-together party, and various other activities.

In attendance were; Vice-Chairman, Oyo Southwest LCDAs, Alhaji Nureni Alade, all PDP Chairmanship Candidates in Oyo federal constituency, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji WABKEM, Hon. Sola Oluokun, Hon. Femi Aikomo, all PDP party Chairmen, the state Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, as well as other prominent leaders and party members.
