In a strategic move aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement, promoting political awareness and deepening voter education ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Office of the Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Governor of Oyo State has partnered with Hon. Olufade Seun, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, to introduce the Rural Hangout Initiative.

The initiative is designed to mobilise residents across Oyo State around the Reset Nigeria Agenda and Omituntun 3.0, while creating opportunities for direct interaction with grassroots communities and educating voters on the vision, policies and programmes of the political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at an extraordinary meeting of committee members, Hon. Olufade underscored the strategic importance of the initiative, describing it as an effective grassroots engagement platform for reaching voters, strengthening political awareness and communicating the administration’s vision beyond 2027.

He appealed to critical stakeholders, political leaders and other relevant groups to embrace the initiative and contribute meaningfully towards its successful implementation, expressing confidence in its potential to strengthen support for all APM candidates across the state.

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Oyo State on Political Matters, Adeyemo Adedeji Ola, appreciated Hon. Olufade for his consistent willingness to complement the developmental efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He described the Rural Hangout Initiative as a well-structured grassroots engagement strategy capable of expanding political awareness, strengthening stakeholder participation and building broader support for the party and its candidates across Oyo State.

Ola further explained that the initiative would prioritise rural communities and grassroots residents, with engagements scheduled to take place across all geopolitical zones of the state, commencing with the Ibadan Zone.

He called on development-minded individuals, community leaders, party stakeholders and committed supporters to rally behind the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its candidates, stressing the importance of sustaining the developmental gains recorded under the present administration.

According to him, Oyo State cannot afford a return to the era of poor governance, misplaced priorities and developmental stagnation.

The Rural Hangout Initiative, therefore, represents another effort to take political engagement beyond conventional meetings by bringing conversations, voter education and political awareness directly to the people at the grassroots.
