Speaking at the event, Olatunji, who described the project as part of the dividends of democracy for grassroots communities, stressed the importance of unity among all candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oluyole, vying for different elective offices in the coming 2027 elections.

He maintained that collective commitment remains essential to sustainable development and progress for rural dwellers.

He recalled that he, alongside Hon. Waheed Akintayo, the current lawmaker representing Oluyole at the state Assembly and Hon. Popoola Olaide, his predecessor, had visited the community the previous week to seek residents’ support ahead of the forthcoming election.

According to him, the engagement provided an opportunity for residents to communicate their needs and expectations, following which commitments were made to address some of their concerns.

Olatunji said the subsequent fulfilment of the promises, which was the demand for the security post in the community, demonstrated the commitment of the party’s candidates to translating their words into tangible action and prioritising the welfare of the people.

He maintained that development initiatives should reflect the actual needs of communities, adding that collaboration among political representatives and residents was necessary to sustain progress.

In his remarks, Hon. Akintayo confirmed that the commitment made concerning the ongoing Primary Health Care project in the community had been fulfilled.

He commended Olatunji’s visionary leadership, describing him as someone who follows through on promises made to the people.

He also highlighted other ongoing projects in the area, and expressed confidence that additional developmental initiatives could be delivered if the candidates received another mandate from the electorate at the polls.

The General Chairman of Akinfenwa Atagba Community, Alhaji Bashir Lawal, commended Olatunji and the other APM candidates for their commitments and contributions to the community.

Lawal specifically acknowledged the Amotekun security post, whose foundation was laid during the event, and the Primary Health Care project, describing both initiatives as important and critical to the welfare of residents.

He subsequently pledged to mobilise community members in support of all APM candidates ahead of the forthcoming election, while expressing appreciation for their efforts towards addressing local needs.

In his earlier remarks, Olatunji’s predecessor, Hon. Olaide Settle, who is the APM chairmanship candidate seeking another term of office in the coming local governments election, urged residents to participate actively in the forthcoming poll.

Settle called on the people to come out en masse to vote, describing electoral participation as an opportunity for residents to express their views on the leadership and development of their community.

He also commended Olatunji for his development initiatives across Oluyole, particularly his efforts to strengthen local security through the provision of Amotekun facilities.

Among the community leaders present were Lawal; Hon. Simon Eniwaye, secretary of Akinfenwa Atagba Community; Elder Taiwo Oyeyemi, chairman of Zone G; Alhaji Akeem Olayiwola; Mr Peter Akintayo, youth leader of Atagba Community; and Mr Oludotun Ajibola, secretary of the community’s youth forum.

Political stakeholders at the event included Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat, APM chairman in Oluyole; Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, former PDP chairman in the local government; Hon. Lukman Salawu, former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Oluyole constituency; Hon. Niyi Akorede, vice-chairman of Oluyole Local Government; Mrs Oyewale Mosunmola, Head of Local Government Administration; and Mr Yusuff Oyedeji, head of Amotekun in Oluyole Local Government.
