October 13: A Movement to Bring Our People Together, Strengthen Bonds and Build a Common Future
The stage is set for a massive Ward 12 Solidarity Walk, an initiative championed by Hon. Olakunle Akinsete, popularly known as Shete, to foster unity, strengthen relationships and promote a renewed spirit of togetherness among the people of Ward 12, Ibadan South-West Local Government.

Â
Scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., the walk will commence in front of Olympus Lounge, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, bringing together residents, community leaders, youths, women, political stakeholders and supporters in a collective demonstration of solidarity.
Beyond the excitement and energy expected from the walk, its central message is clear: our strength lies in our unity, and our future is brighter when we move forward together.
Ward 12 is home to people with diverse interests, opinions, backgrounds and aspirations. However, these differences should serve as a source of strength rather than division. The solidarity walk is therefore designed to create an atmosphere where people can connect, interact, renew friendships and embrace the shared values that bind them together as one community.
For Shete, the initiative represents an opportunity to encourage greater understanding and cooperation among the people, reminding everyone that community development begins with unity, mutual respect and a willingness to work together.
Â
The walk is also expected to provide a platform for grassroots engagement, allowing people to come together beyond political affiliations and individual differences to celebrate their common identity and collective aspirations for Ward 12.
This is not just a walk; it is a statement of unity, a celebration of community and a call for togetherness.
As preparations gather momentum, residents and supporters are encouraged to come out in large numbers, participate actively and be part of what promises to be a memorable show of solidarity.
The message is simple: no division, no unnecessary barriers—just one community, one people and one shared future.
