The Balogun Odeyinka Oderinlo royal dynasty today presented an “Appreciation and Commendation Award” to Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, in recognition of his leadership, development initiatives, and the historic honour of naming the Balogun Odeyinka Oderinlo Memorial Modern Car Park at Bodija Market by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
The award was handed over at the Chairman’s office by Chief Kabir Adegboyega Oderinlo also known as Arole Oderinlo World Wide who led the royal delegation.
In his remarks, the Arole Oderinlo World Wide said, “We sincerely appreciate you for your visionary leadership, commitment to development and for the historic honour of naming the Balogun Odeyinka Oderinlo Memorial Modern Car Park, Bodija Market. This noble gesture is beyond recognition.
It is the preservation of our history and a celebration of a fearless hero, Balogun Odeyinka Oderinlo, who defended the Yoruba people in 1840. Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, you keep our history alive and inspire generations; your name is written in gold in the history of our family.
Since the death of Balogun Odeyinka Oderinlo in 1850, no government, political or military, deemed it fit to give such recognition to the Oderinlo dynasty despite Balogun Odeyinka’s fight which led to the rescue of the Yoruba from Fulani.
Thank you for your service to Ibadan North and the people of Oyo State at large.”
Chief Kabir Oderinlo also prayed for the success of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, and Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade in their future endeavours.
He pledged his unflinching support for the present administration in Oyo State beyond 2027 and called on all residents of Oyo State to back Governor Seyi Makinde and all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Responding, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade dedicated the award to all residents of Ibadan North Local Government, at home and abroad.
He expressed gratitude to the Oderinlo dynasty and to the people of his council for their continued support of his administration. “Thanks for your support; I count on you and I will never take it for granted,” he said.
The presentation was witnessed by senior council officials including the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Ajebisi Olabode; Director of Works, Engr. Ambali Aremu; Estate Officer, Mr. Henry; Head of Media to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ajibola Aderibigbe, among others.
