The programme brought together students, educators, security personnel, and other critical stakeholders to address the growing concerns surrounding youth involvement in criminal and anti-social activities.

Delivering the Chairman’s message, Hon. Adegbemi described the increasing prevalence of truancy, cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, cybercrime and other social vices as serious threats to the future of young people and the overall development of society.

He noted that these challenges extend beyond the school environment, stressing that they undermine peace, security, moral values and sustainable development within the community.

He further disclosed that the Local Government will continue to strengthen collaboration with security agencies, school authorities, parents, and other stakeholders to promote discipline, improve student welfare, and support initiatives that discourage anti-social behaviour among young people.

The Chairman also appealed to parents to take greater responsibility for the upbringing of their children by monitoring their activities, encouraging positive friendships, and maintaining open communication at home.

He equally urged students to shun every form of criminality and embrace discipline, integrity, hard work, and excellence as the foundation for a successful future.

Speaking during the programme, Assistant commissioner of police/Area commander Mrs. Oluwatosin of the Nigeria Police Force enlightened the students on the dangers and long-term consequences of cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, examination malpractice and other social vices.

She encouraged them to remain focused on their education, avoid negative peer influence, and make responsible decisions that would secure a brighter future.

ACP Mrs. Oluwatosin also emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool for personal growth and national development, urging students to become worthy ambassadors of their schools, families, and communities by upholding good character and lawful conduct.

The sensitization programme featured interactive sessions where students were encouraged to ask questions, share experiences and deepen their understanding of the dangers associated with social vices and the importance of becoming responsible and productive members of society.

The event further demonstrated the shared commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibarapa Central Local Government, educational institutions, parents, and community stakeholders to safeguarding the future of young people and building a safer, more disciplined, and prosperous society.
