As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, Farmer Omolara Kafilat Busari Svensson, Oyo State House of Assembly aspirant for Egbeda State Constituency, has called for renewed national commitment to the protection, safety, and welfare of children across the country.

In her Children’s Day message, Farmer Omolara Kafilat Busari Svensson described children as the “source of joy, hope, and the future of society,” noting that the annual celebration should not only be a moment of joy but also an opportunity for reflection on the challenges facing children in Nigeria.

She expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of insecurity affecting children in different parts of the country, warning that those who are meant to be nurtured and protected are increasingly becoming targets of violent attacks and kidnappings.

According to her, recent incidents reported in various parts of Nigeria, including disturbing cases in Oriire Local Government area of Oyo State, underscore the urgent need for stronger and more coordinated security responses to safeguard the lives of children.
While calling for action, she urged the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts toward strengthening the nation’s security architecture to ensure that children are adequately protected and made less vulnerable to attacks.
She also called for urgent steps to ensure the rescue and safe return of children affected by kidnapping incidents, while stressing the need for proactive measures that would prevent future occurrences across communities.

Farmer Omolara further appealed to the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to sustain and intensify efforts in collaboration with security agencies to secure the release of any abducted children and reinforce safety across the state.
Despite the concerns raised, she extended warm felicitations to children in Egbeda Local Government, across Oyo State, Nigeria, and worldwide, wishing them continued growth, happiness, and many more peaceful celebrations on earth.
She reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for a safer and more secure environment where every child can thrive without fear, describing such responsibility as a collective duty of all stakeholders in society.
