A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Akinyele State Constituency 1, Abiola Monsuru Olalekan, has firmly dissociated himself from an alleged plot to impeach Seyi Makinde, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the administration.
Hon. Olalekan made this known in a strongly worded statement following revelations reportedly made by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, concerning an alleged high-level conspiracy to remove the governor from office.
According to the lawmaker, the Speaker disclosed during a meeting that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja (Arusa I), allegedly invited him to a meeting where he was encouraged to collaborate with other lawmakers to orchestrate the impeachment of Governor Makinde, with promises of billions of naira as inducement.
Hon. Olalekan further noted that the alleged plot was said to be in connivance with Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, and that additional meetings were reportedly held, including one with the presidency on April 9, 2026.

At the said meeting, the Speaker was reportedly promised a ticket to the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside assurances that other lawmakers would receive automatic return tickets to the State Assembly.
The statement also claimed that financial incentives running into billions of naira were allegedly offered to facilitate the impeachment process.
Reacting to these developments, Hon. Olalekan categorically distanced himself from the purported scheme, emphasizing that he neither attended any such meeting nor received any financial inducement.
“I wish to categorically state that I, Hon. Abiola Monsuru Olalekan, have no involvement whatsoever in any plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
I did not attend any meeting in connection with this matter, and I did not receive any money or inducement.
My conscience is clear, and my commitment remains firmly with the people of Oyo State who have benefited immensely from this administration,” he said.
The lawmaker described Governor Makinde as a performing leader whose tenure has been marked by peace, stability, and unprecedented development across the state.
He further hailed the governor as “the people’s governor, a man loved by many, who has brought peace, tranquility, and remarkable development to Oyo State.”
Hon. Olalekan concluded by reaffirming his unflinching loyalty to Governor Makinde, stressing that he would continue to support policies and initiatives aimed at advancing the welfare of the people of the state.
