The Ibadan North Indigenous Council on Friday conferred an award of recognition on the Councillor representing Ward 10 of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Alayande Habeeb, in appreciation of his outstanding selfless service and immense contributions to grassroots development.

The Ibadan North Indigenous Council is an association founded on the core values of honouring and appreciating individuals who have positively impacted, or continue to impact, the growth and development of Ibadan North Local Government over the years and in the future.

Hon. Alayande was honoured for his uncommon dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents. At the event, it was revealed that the councillor consistently returns his entire take-home as a councillor to his ward on a monthly basis, a gesture described by many as rare and exemplary in public office.

Further highlighting his achievements, the council noted that Hon. Alayande has, through his personal resources, fully sponsored the refurbishment of a borehole in Ward 10 to improve access to clean water. He also empowers women and youths on a monthly basis, sponsors JAMB registration for qualified youths in the ward, and has over the years demonstrated true grassroots leadership through people-oriented initiatives.

Each speaker applauded Hon. Alayande’s consistent impact, accessibility, and commitment to the development of youths and the general well-being of residents in his ward.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Alayande Habeeb expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the opportunity to serve and for the recognition bestowed on him. He also acknowledged the influence and support of leaders from the ward up to the state level, noting that the spirit of giving has always been an integral part of his life.

The councillor emphasized that his guiding principle in office has been to first address the needs of the people before personal interests. He used the occasion to urge other public office holders across the state to prioritize the welfare of the people, stressing that governance should always be about service, sacrifice, and accountability.

The award ceremony concluded with accolades and renewed calls for people-centered leadership at all levels of government in Ibadan North and beyond.
