Residents of Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East Local Government Areas were equipped with valuable agricultural and entrepreneurial skills as a two-day Fishing and Poultry Empowerment Training held on December 18 and 19, 2025, recording remarkable success.

The impactful initiative, aimed at promoting economic empowerment and self-reliance, was powered by Mogaji Oluwole Akinwale in collaboration with Farmer Omolara Svensson, founder of the Oyo State Women and Youth in Active Politics Awareness and Sensitization.

The intensive programme attracted women, youths, and aspiring entrepreneurs from across the two local government areas, who underwent hands-on and practical training in modern aquaculture and poultry farming techniques.

In the aquaculture segment, participants were exposed to best practices in site selection, pond construction and management, fingerling stocking, feeding regimes, water quality control, and efficient harvesting methods for catfish and tilapia production.

Similarly, the poultry farming component focused on broiler and layer management, biosecurity measures, vaccination schedules, feed formulation, disease prevention, and profitable marketing strategies, equipping beneficiaries with knowledge to run successful poultry enterprises.

Beyond technical agricultural skills, the training also featured sessions on business planning, record-keeping, access to funding opportunities, and value chain integration, ensuring participants are well-prepared to translate their new skills into sustainable sources of income.

Speaking on the initiative, stakeholders described the programme as a strategic investment in youth empowerment, poverty reduction, food security, and inclusive economic growth across Oyo State.

Participants expressed deep appreciation to Mogaji Oluwole Akinwale and Farmer Omolara Svensson for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to uplifting communities through capacity building and empowerment initiatives.

The empowerment programme is widely seen as a significant step toward building a resilient, self-sufficient, and prosperous future for the people of Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East.
