In commemoration of the year 2024 May Day celebration, the Oyo State House of Assembly has commended the leadership and members of the Organised Labour in the State for the spirit of Patriotism and Oneness adopted in resolving trade disputes in the interest of State development.

The House Stated this in a statement issued to felicitate the entire Workforce in the State as they join their counterparts across the Globe to celebrate this year International Workers Day.

The release signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Information , Media, Public Affairs and ICT, Hon. Waheed Akintayo lauded the resilience and commitment of Workers added that their Contribution is priceless to the State Economy .

“We salute the State Workforce on this auspicious occasion and commend them for their hard work , commitment and resourcefulness which have continued to grow and sustain the State’s Economy over the years”.

“We hail their resilience , patience, understanding and undying support especially in the face of tough economic Challenges confronting the Nation”, the release stated.

The Statement declared that Oyo State House of Assembly believes in the well-being and welfare of workers, and will continue to provide legislative support for every effort to tackle their challenges and improve on the working conditions.

“The House acknowledged the role of workers as the driving force of the State’s Economy development in view of their invaluable contributions. On our part , we will ensure enacting the legislation that will guarantee Workers benefits, development, safety and well-being in the workplace “.

The House however urged the State Organised Labour to reciprocate the good gesture of the present Administration in the State of prompt payment of salary and allowances, Twenty- Five thousand naira monthly Palliative payments among others.

“We urge workers to continue to put in their best and key into the Government plans, aimed at enhancing productivity and always discharge their responsibilities in the overall interest of the State”, the statement concluded.
