In a recent address at the plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria in Abuja, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), conveyed a message urging Nigerians to maintain an unceasing spirit of prayer amidst prevailing economic challenges and security concerns.

Akume stated: “The season of Lent is an apt time to host this critical meeting as it is a period of profound reflection, prayer, fasting, and charitable giving which coincides with a challenging period of economic hardship in our nation.”

He further emphasized: “Although the economic hardship and security challenges may seem daunting, let us continue to encourage one another in the Lord and pray without ceasing.”

During his speech, Akume highlighted the importance of solidarity and urged citizens to extend support and love to one another.

He also underscored several accomplishments of the administration led by President Bola Tinubu, including measures to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Akume continued: “With unwavering dedication, we are striving towards a prosperous, healthy, and globally competitive Nigeria. Given the critical situation, now more than ever before, we must remain steadfast, renewing our faith in God’s provision and protection.”

Citing the inherited economic challenges, Akume emphasized the administration’s determination to steer Nigeria towards a prosperous and globally competitive future. He urged citizens to remain steadfast in their faith and encouraged mutual support during trying times.

Concluding his address, the SGF reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s dedication to improving security, boosting the economy, and fostering inclusive opportunities for all Nigerians.
