Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi has extolled Governor Seyi Makinde’s humane personality and style of governance, stating that the governor’s legacies go beyond party commitment.

The PDP House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency praised Gov. Makinde’s loyalty and “unrepentant commitment” to ensure that all people of Oyo State, irrespective of tribe or affiliation, enjoy the dividends of democracy at all times.

“Governor Seyi Makinde is a leader who governs with his heart. His love for the people of Oyo State is not defined by party lines, religion, or ethnicity.
From the Moniya-Iseyin road that has opened up our economy, to the upgrade of LAUTECH and prompt payment of workers’ salaries, he has shown that governance is about people first,” Mayegun Babanumi said.

Speaking on the governor’s recent Oyo State image branding engagement at Harvard University two days ago, Babanumi noted that Makinde has taken the Oyo story to the global stage.
“At Harvard, Gov. Makinde did not just speak for the PDP, he spoke for Oyo State and for Nigeria. He showed the world what is possible when leadership is people-centred.
That is why I say his legacies go beyond party commitment. He is branding Oyo as a model for sub-national development in Africa,” he stated.
On the party’s outlook, Mayegun Babanumi was emphatic about 2027: “The PDP will consolidate in 2027 on the back of Governor Makinde’s performance.
His works are our campaign materials. Limited time in office has not slowed him down. He is still fulfilling his vision of transforming Oyo State economically and socially, delivering true dividends of democracy. Our job in the PDP is to protect and extend these legacies.”
Highlighting other footprints of positive governance under the Makinde administration, Mayegun Babanumi listed the revamping of primary healthcare centres, free education policy, agricultural expansion through farm settlements, and the Light-Up Oyo project as transformational strides impacting residents daily.
He also noted the governor’s unwavering support for the PDP, both in Oyo State and nationally, describing it as strategic leadership that has strengthened the party’s base.
Mayegun Babanumi wished the government of Oyo State continued success and greater strides under the leadership of Gov. Makinde and his vision for the state.
