The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogbomoso North Local Government has raised over N7.2m for its candidates ahead of the 2024 local government elections.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the newly appointed Director of Digital Media for the Campaign team, Mr Alade Toheeb, and made available to newsmen in Ogbomoso on Saturday.
The statement said more donations were still being expected from other party leaders especially who were unable to attend the campaign council inauguration ceremony held at the party secretariat, Ajagungbade plaza oke ado, High court.
During the inauguration, the State Treasurer, Hon. Sunday Bankole was named the Director-General while Adegoke ismaila shittu was announced as the Deputy D.G by the chairmanship candidate, Hon. George Ogunlade.
Others were Campaign Gen.sec- Hon. Isaac Adegbite; Asst Campaign Gensec- Ajani Femi Richard; Dir. Contact Mobilization- Hon. Lekan Ayomide (Actor); Dep. Contact Mobilization- Hon. Bolanle Olaniyi; Director of security- Hon. Sunday Damilare (B.square); Youth mobilization- Ajibola Areo (Arexie); Deputy youth mobilization- Taofiqa Muraina; Women Mobilization- Hon. Alh Adijat Aremu (Rainbow); Dep. women mobilization- Princess Khadijat Yakubu; Director of Finance – Hon. Grace Areo; Director of digital media- Alade Toheeb; Dir. of media & publicity- Alh Bashiru Abdulazeez (Lagata); Asst Media & publicity- Aderibigbe Olamide; Representatives of disable- Ajao Emmanuel Oluwafemi.
The event, which had in attendance several PDP leaders and members, also captured a significant donation of about Seven million, two hundred and fifty thousands made by Hon. Akinwole Akinwale; Ex- Commissioner, Hon. Raphael Afonja; Olufemi Onireti; Hon. Bisi Oluranti Michael; Ex Fed. Rep Captain Jacob; Comm. Dotun Oyelade; Hon. Rabiu Bello; Hon. Sunday Damilare (B Square) and Dr. John Adisa Oke Legacy which breakdown indicates the spread of the sum as N1m, N1m, N1m, N1m, N1m, N1m, N500k, N500k and N250k respectively by the donors.
The chairmanship candidate, Hon. George Ogunlade, who expressed gratitude to the donors and guests at the star-studded event, noted that he won’t betray the trust and confidence placed in him.
He equally commended the outgoing chairman, Hon Kabir Ayoade and her Vice, Hon Adijat Rainbow for drumming their support for him praying they reap what they sow in good.
Ogunlade specifically thanked Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Ogbomoso North for the opportunity to serve, even as he exhorted everyone to work diligently for the victory of all party candidates in the upcoming local government poll.
The chairman of the party, Alhaji Hamzat Ibraheem, who also addressed the gathering, however urged all the committees to be dedicated and diligent in their work towards the victory of all the party candidates in the upcoming local government election.
In their separate remarks, the commissioner for information Hon. Dotun Oyelade; Ogbomosho North House of Assembly Lawmaker, Hon. Bisi Oluranti; Hon. Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle) and formal House of Representatives Members, Ogbomosho North, South and Orire urged all the leaders and members to support the candidates with financial and in-kind support for the party’s greatness.
They equally commended Hon Kabir Ayoade and her Vice, Hon Adijat Rainbow for drumming their support for the new chairmanship candidate praying that God will reward them abundantly.
The event was attended by the Chairman of Elders Council to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Saka Balogun, and host of others who pledged their continued support for the campaign team.
