The Provost of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Eleyele, Ibadan, Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo has lauded the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his constant and unwavering support for the College thus creating a conducive learning environment. She stated this at the 2023/2024 Session Matriculation Ceremony held at the College Auditorium.
Administering oaths on the new students, she charged the matriculating students to be committed to their studies in order to achieve excellence, to maintain a balance between their academic, extra curricula and social life and refrain from unruly behaviours and disobedience to the rule of law as the College has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
The OYSCOHEST boss commended the support of the Governor, noting with delight that the recent approval given the College by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the commencement of five HND programmes of the College was made possible by the support from the State Government. She also appreciated the Governing Council members for being strong pillars of support in steering the College in the right direction and the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, who she said has been of tremendous support to the College.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the OYSCOHEST Registrar, Mrs Oladupe Ayoola implored the students to face their studies and obey the College rules and regulations to the letter. She called on them to always take advantage of the existing favourable and conducive learning environment to excel in their academic pursuits.
Some of the matriculants who spoke with the College Public Relations’ Officer Mr. Sola Samuel Ojewole expressed their delight over their admission promising to do their best to excel. They applauded the College Management for putting up a colourful Matriculation Ceremony and for providing a conducive academic environment.
The Matriculation Ceremony was attended by the College Principal Officers, Management, Staff, Parents, Guardians and other well-wishers of the matriculants.
In an interview with the Provost, after the ceremony, she hinted that the College in addition to the regular programmes has commenced some short term courses such as Basic Life Support, Disaster and Complex Emergency Management, Pest control and Management, Caregivers and ICT trainings.
Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology was established on 1st April, 1933 and has a Satellite Campus at OKEHO, Kajola Local Government Area of the State, where three out of the nineteen courses of the College are situated.
