In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the Yauri Emirate community in Kebbi State was plunged into sorrow on Tuesday, January 16th, as the lifeless bodies of abducted small-holder farmers were discovered.
Abu Salisu Muktar, Babangida Yussuf, Aliyu Ibrahim Bala, Hammed Adam Adekunle, and Bala Mohammed, who had been missing since their abduction in May 2023, were found dead along the road close to Tomani Farms in Yauri.
AREWA News reported the case of the kidnap on 3rd May, 2023.
Shockingly, despite efforts by some families to secure the release of their loved ones through ransom payments, the kidnappers callously released the deceased farmers’ lifeless bodies instead.
The community and families were left in disbelief as the hopes of reuniting with their abducted breadwinners turned into a grim reality.
The community leaders promptly contacted the police after the discovery of the five corpses, reportedly dumped by an alleged Islamic sect.
The State Police Public Relations Officer assured the public that law enforcement is actively addressing the situation, urging residents to remain calm during this distressing time.
This tragic incident sheds light on the ongoing challenges faced by communities dealing with the menace of kidnapping, raising concerns about the safety and security of citizens in Kebbi State and beyond.
