An acclaimed Club with male gender membership was attacked on Thursday evening, 31st August, 2023 around Alakia axis of Ibadan city, the capital of Oyo State.
According to an eye witness, Mr Tijani popularly known as Swaga ; he said the attack was a calculated attack done by some Youth and young adult of a certain religious sect.
He further expressed that they initially thought it was a two gang rivalry but the utterances during the attack revealed that the supposed club is involving in sexual act between same gender(Male) which they claimed to be a taboo and religious aberration.
Stone, wooden plank and other available objects were reportedly used to attack members of the Gay club at their meeting venue.
Several members of the Gay club sustain different level of injury and were taken to the hospital.
Another dimension to the story by a member of the community who claimed anonymity revealed that one member of the Gay Club lost his life early hour of Friday 1st September, 2023 in the hospital according to the information he got.
He also frown at the act of homosexuality by those acclaimed club members and liking the act to one of the reasons provoking God’s anger on the Nation of Nigeria resulting to economic hardship. He further expressed his believe that God made Human as Male and Female for procreation. That same sex marriage is an ideology of the western world.
A building at Kayode Oke Close, Alakia belonging to one Oguntayo Tokunbo, a member of the club was reportedly set ablaze by the sect.
Effort to contact Mr Oguntayo prove abortive as his whereabout is unknown as at the time of filling our report.
A petty trader; Mrs Muinat whose shop is closer to the club house narrated that the identity of those attacker is unknown to people in that community. That some of the members of the club are known but she doesn’t want to reveal identity of those known to her for security reasons.
She also condemn the Gay members and opine that they don’t want such abomination in their community anymore.
According to her, an unidentified person was reportedly burnt with the house.
The Police informed our correspondent that no arrest has been made as at the time of filling our report. And promised to conduct proper investigation in other to arrest members of the club in question and the sect to bring those culpable to justice.
Although, same sex marriage is not legalized in Nigeria. The question that come to mind is this: Can illegality be corrected by another act of illegality?
When will jungle justice and total violation of law be things of the past based on the level of civilization in our society?
