The Governor of Oyo state, ‘Seyi Makinde’ has named ongoing estate of the government in Trans Amusement Park, Samonda after late Musliliu Olaide Akinremi popularly known as Jagaban.

The Governor made the announcement on Thursday at the 8th day fidau prayer, which was held at Theophilus Ogunlesi hall, UCH, Ibadan, while expressing his sympathies to the bereaved family and the good people of Oyo state.

Governor Makinde, who spoke through his Deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, noted that Jagaban’s death was a sad loss to him as he was moved to tears upon learning of his passing.

Describing his sudden death as shocking and great loss to the state, Barrister Lawal added that Oyo Government ordered that flags be flown at half-mast throughout Oyo state in honor of the departed Federal House of Representatives members for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

He emphasized that everyone should strive on good deeds in order to be remembered for good after death, as Almighty Allah has stated in Quran chapter 52.

He said: “On behalf of his Excellency, Seyi Makinde, I send my deep condolences to the Akinremi family and members of the House of Representatives for this irreparable loss. I urge all individuals, including the House members to fill the vacuum Jagaban has left behind.

“In Oyo state, we are all one family irrespective of party affiliation. So, we need to also be united together and be well focused for the development of the state.

“Let also take from the sermon of those who have addressed us and must be a good ambassador just like Jagaban was known for his good deeds.

“On this note, we are announcing that the state government ongoing estate in Trans Amusement Park, Samonda in Ibadan would be named after Jagaban in honor of his good deeds and contributions towards the development of Oyo state.

Earlier in his sermon, Dr. Akeola from University of a Ibadan who described the death of Hon. Musiliu Olaide Jagaban as a painful loss, said the late Reps member had lived a very good life.

He highlighted some of the achievements and contributions of the late deceased while alive, stressing that his good deeds would stand for him on the day of qiyammah.

The lecturer who quoted chapter 3 of the Holy Quran however said that everyone shall taste death, describing the late deceased as a legend who had lived a fulfilling life.

The son of the deceased, Prince Olaide Akinremi senior, in his brief remarks, said his father was a remarkable person and his legacy and memory would lived on through the life of people that he touched.

He said: “With the massive turnout today, I am aware that my father had done good things. While I have lost my father, his wife have lost husband and the people of Ibadan North have lost their Jagaban.

“On behalf of the family, I want to thank the state, his party APC, and the constituency for their support. I promise to carry on his leagcy. May God help me. I also thank you all for coming. Ki oluwa ko tewon si afe fe ire.”

Speaking on behalf of members of House of Representatives, Hon. Adigun Abass, popularly known as Agboworin, said the late deceased was a very hardworking man who will be missed by everyone.

He added that Jagaban was a very big loss to his constituency, Oyo State and Nigeria at large praying that Allah give his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and grant him eternal rest.

Iyiola Oladokun; Former Speaker of House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, ably represented by the former Deputy Speaker of the House, Alhaji Wase; Former and current members of House of Representatives; otunba seye famojuro, ibadan north local government chairman, hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, hon. Kazim Adeniyi Adeyinka Bibire, hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, hon. Babajide Gabriel, hon. Akeem Olatunji, hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, family members; members of All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party and host of others.
