At today’s plenary session of the Oyo East Local Government Legislature, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Ajala Yusuff Oyeyinka, approved a motion to rename Alhaji Ganiyu Arowosaye Estate to Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III Scheme.

Hon. Okunade Ademola Idowu, Councilor representing Owode/Araromi Ward (10), stated that the landed property named Alhaji Ganiyu Arowosaye Estate was not duly legislated during the tenure of Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi.

He emphasized that the estate should be renamed to honor the late Òyó monarch, Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, who made significant contributions to the socioeconomic and political development of the Yoruba Empire and was a respected custodian of culture and traditions.

“Late Oba Adeyemi is a pride to Yoruba culture throughout the world,” he said.

Hon. Alabi Olanrewaju Hosea, representing Ward One (01), seconded the motion and highlighted that Oba Adeyemi’s influence extended beyond Oyo to the entire Yoruba Empire.

He urged the House to support the renaming of the property in honor of the late monarch.
