Qualitative Representation took its turn yesterday for the Oyo Lawmaker , the Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Communuity Development , Hon. Dr. Olufunke Adeniyi-Olajide at the 2-days South West Zonal Stakeholders Consultative Workshop held at UI. Hotels aimed at Development and drafting of Nigeria’s 3rd National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security implementation of the United Nations Security, Council Resolution 1325 organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development with support from UN Women and Norwegian Government.

When there is disharmony, women , children , and vulnerable are usually the worst hit victims, hence It was noted that peacekeeping and conflict resolution are important pillars of Women Peace and Security.

If we recall, Hon. Comforter moved a Motion at the Floor of the Oyo State House of Assembly in November 2023 on the Urgent Need for the Adoption of United Nations Security Counci Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 and National Action Plan (NAPS) by Oyo State to develop State Action Plan (SAP) On Women, Peace and Security (WPS) towards realizing a more peaceful and Gemder Equitable Society in Oyo State.

The United Nations Security Council Resolution acknowledged the disproportionate anduniquee impact of Armed Conflicton women and girls.

The 2nd Nigeria’s National Action Plans on Women, Peace, and Security was tailored to achieve particular needs and challenges of each State for Women , Peace ànd SecurityWPS.

The 2nd Nigeria’s Action Plan on Women ,Peace and Securoty elapsed in year 2020 ,the just concluded 2-days workshop sought to distil the position of the South West States into a workable 3rd Nigeria’s National Action plan on Women Peace and Security.

The welcome speech was given by the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs Hon. Toyin Balogun with full participation at this all-important Zonal Consultative Workshop were Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Olajide (Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development), Hon. Dawood D-AL-AMEEN ( Chairman House Committee on Security and Strategy), Hon. Wale Canada( Vice-Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development); Hon. Bisi Oluranti Michael Oyewo (Member House Committee or Women Affairs and Community Development), Mrs. Mshelia ( The United Nations Women Consultant), Ho PS. Ministry Women Affairs and Social Imclusion, Mrs. Dolapo Popoola, Director women Program Oyo, Mrs. Diya, Gender PillarLead Oyo, Mrs. Ronke Ige.

Other participants include Director of women programs from other five(5) South West States Lagos , Ogun,Ekiti,Osun, and Ondo.

Chief. Ayomide Baale Ekotedo, Kabiyesi Adegoroye (the 4th in line to the Deji of Akure) other Royal Father’s from all over the South West Staes , representatives of the three(3) major faiths based leaders, representatives of Civil Society Organisations led by JDPC, women Group all over the South West led by Mrs. Modupe Omotayo and representatives of the Security outfits in the States such as Women Officers of Nigerian Army, Police, NSCDC and Vigilante from all the South West State.

Immediately after the opening ceremony of the consultative Workshop ,the first technical session , high level discusses over tea break ,
Hon. Comforter proceeded as the Vice Chairman ,House Committee on Agriculture, to attend Oyo State AgricBussiness Summit on Food Security at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA Ibadan Oyo State.
