Former Oyo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Michael Lana, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity in the governance of Oyo State over the last seven years, describing him as a credible alternative for Nigeria’s presidency.
Lana made this assertion while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, where he assessed the Makinde administration and expressed confidence in the governor’s ability to replicate his governance experience at the national level.

According to him, Makinde’s performance in Oyo State over the past seven years has demonstrated his understanding of governance, commitment to development and capacity to provide purposeful leadership, adding that Nigeria stands to benefit from the governor’s experience.
Speaking further on the political developments and his decision to remain with Governor Seyi Makinde. I am a member of PDP Makinde/Turaki faction and I am fully in support of APM candidates as I believe Seyi Makinde is the leader of the two amalgamated parties..
He explained that his decision was informed by his conviction to remain aligned with Governor Makinde and his political direction, particularly following the governor’s movement to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Lana maintained that his political differences with some former associates should not be misconstrued as personal hostility, stressing that disagreements are natural in politics and can always be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.

“We may have our differences, but we know how to sort them out. In politics, we may agree to disagree, but that does not mean we cannot maintain mutual respect. What is important is the ability to recognise leadership, appreciate performance and remain committed to one’s convictions,” he stated.
Reaffirming his political commitment, the former Attorney-General declared his readiness to work for the success of all APM candidates, particularly Governor Seyi Makinde, former Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, and Hon. Olakunle Akinsete, popularly known as Shete, whom he fondly described as his good son.
He specifically expressed support for Akinsete’s ambition to represent Ibadan South-West State Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, noting his commitment to seeing the emergence of candidates who can contribute meaningfully to the development of their constituencies and the state.
Lana’s remarks underscore his continued identification with Governor Makinde’s political direction and his determination to contribute to the fortunes of the APM as the 2027 political season approaches.
He concluded by reiterating that political disagreements should not erase longstanding relationships, while maintaining that his support for Governor Makinde and the APM candidates remains firm.
