Hon. Mathew Alani Oyeniyi, former Federal House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North Federal Constituency and the Aare of Akoboland, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Her Excellency, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, on their conferment with the prestigious chieftaincy titles of Aare Soludero and Yeye Soludero of Ibarapa Land, respectively.
Oyeniyi, in a congratulatory message, described the conferment as a remarkable honour that reflects the recognition and appreciation of the Governor and First Lady by the traditional institution and people of Ibarapa.
The titles were conferred on Governor Makinde and his wife by the Ibarapa Traditional Council at the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adedayo Adegbola.
According to Oyeniyi, the honour is particularly significant because traditional titles in Yoruba society represent more than recognition; they symbolise acceptance, trust, respect and the appreciation of an individual’s contributions to the development and wellbeing of the people.
He said Governor Makinde’s emergence as Aare Soludero demonstrates the growing recognition of his administration’s efforts toward strengthening peace, development and prosperity across Oyo State.
Oyeniyi commended the Governor for his leadership approach, noting that his administration’s attention to infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic growth, security and human capital development has continued to make meaningful impact on the lives of residents.
He also praised the Ibarapa Traditional Council for honouring the Governor, describing the decision as a testament to the important role traditional institutions continue to play in recognising individuals who contribute positively to society.
The Aare of Akoboland stressed that the traditional institution remains an important pillar of Yoruba society, particularly in promoting peace, preserving cultural values and fostering unity between government and communities.
He further congratulated Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde on her conferment as Yeye Soludero of Ibarapa Land, describing the honour as well deserved.
Oyeniyi acknowledged the First Lady’s support for her husband and her involvement in initiatives that promote the welfare of women, children, families and vulnerable members of society.
He noted that the complementary roles played by the Governor and First Lady have contributed to the broader objectives of the administration, adding that their recognition by the people and traditional institutions should serve as encouragement for even greater service.
According to him, the new titles should not only be viewed as prestigious traditional honours but also as a renewed responsibility to continue serving the people with humility, dedication and a strong sense of duty.
He urged Governor Makinde and his wife to regard the recognition as another opportunity to strengthen their relationship with the people of Ibarapa and other communities across Oyo State.
Oyeniyi also called for sustained collaboration between the government, traditional rulers, community leaders and citizens, stressing that peace and sustainable development can only be achieved when all stakeholders work together.
He expressed confidence that the cordial relationship between the Oyo State Government and traditional institutions would continue to promote stability, unity and development across the state.
While celebrating the Governor and First Lady, Oyeniyi prayed for continued wisdom, good health, strength and divine guidance for the couple as they continue to contribute to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
He described the conferment of the Aare Soludero and Yeye Soludero titles as a proud moment not only for the Makinde family but also for the people of Oyo State, adding that the honour further underscores the enduring value of service, leadership and commitment to the people.
