A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olorunpoto Cephas Rahaman, has felicitated with his colleague, brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Rilwan Gbadamosi Saminu, popularly known as “Wale Canada,” on the occasion of his 50th birthday, describing him as a man of courage, conviction, wisdom and uncommon strength of character.
Hon. Olorunpoto, who represents the Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, described the golden jubilee anniversary of Rt. Hon. Saminu as a significant milestone worthy of celebration, noting that his five decades of life have been marked by meaningful relationships, service to humanity and a strong commitment to his principles.
Rt. Hon. Rilwan Gbadamosi Saminu, who represents the Saki East/Atisbo State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly and serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Health, was particularly commended for his contributions to legislative activities and his dedication to representing the interests of his constituents.
According to Olorunpoto, the celebrant remains a distinguished son of Sepeteri in Oke-Ogun, a respected friend of Ibadan and a cherished in-law of Ibarapa, whose personality and relationships have transcended geographical and political boundaries.
He described Wale Canada as a politician and public servant who has consistently demonstrated the courage to stand by his convictions, speak truthfully and express his views with confidence, irrespective of whose interest may be affected.
“Wale Canada is a man of wisdom, class and courage. He is a man who stands for the truth and speaks his mind with conviction, regardless of whose ox is gored. That strength of character has earned him my respect and the respect of many people who have had the privilege of knowing and working with him,” Olorunpoto said.
The lawmaker further described the celebrant as a dependable colleague and brother whose friendship, counsel and personal disposition have remained valuable over the years.
He noted that beyond his political office and legislative responsibilities, Rt. Hon. Saminu has distinguished himself through the dignity with which he conducts himself and his commitment to issues he strongly believes in.
“At 50, I celebrate a dependable brother and colleague whose friendship and counsel I deeply value. You have carried yourself with dignity, remained true to your convictions and continued to serve with purpose,” he added.
Olorunpoto said the 50th birthday anniversary provides an opportunity not only to celebrate the achievements of the celebrant but also to acknowledge the experiences, relationships and contributions that have shaped his journey so far.
He expressed optimism that the new chapter of Saminu’s life would usher in greater opportunities for personal fulfilment, impactful public service and lasting contributions to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
While congratulating the celebrant on attaining the golden milestone, Olorunpoto prayed for divine protection, sound health, greater wisdom and many more years of purposeful living.
He also prayed that God would continue to strengthen Rt. Hon. Saminu and grant him and his family greater peace, honour, fulfilment and accomplishments in the years ahead.
