As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, a prominent aspirant for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Olusogo Akinyemi Akinpelu, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), days after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development has further stirred political conversations within the constituency and across Oyo State, as supporters and political stakeholders continue to monitor the ongoing realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Hon. Akinpelu, a respected grassroots politician and strong mobilizer within Egbeda and Ona-Ara local governments, formally announced his decision to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while addressing loyalists, associates, and supporters across the constituency.
According to him, his defection to the ADC followed extensive consultations with political leaders, community stakeholders, youths, women groups, loyal supporters, and key allies who share in his vision for quality representation and purposeful leadership.
The federal constituency aspirant explained that his decision was borne out of the need to embrace a political platform that truly reflects the aspirations of the people and offers an opportunity to build a more inclusive and people-oriented political movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Akinpelu stated that the African Democratic Congress presents a credible and progressive platform through which he can pursue his commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, effective representation, and sustainable growth across Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.
“After deep consultations and careful consideration of the current political realities, I have officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This decision was taken in the overall interest of the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and the collective desire to provide purposeful, responsive, and impactful representation for our people.
I remain fully committed to the progress, unity, and development of our constituency, and I believe the ADC offers a better platform to actualize this vision,” Hon. Akinpelu stated.
He further assured supporters that his political ambition remains focused on delivering quality representation, empowering young people, promoting grassroots participation, and attracting meaningful development projects capable of improving the welfare of the people.
