A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ona-Ara Local Government of Oyo State and an aspirant for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Olusogo Akinyemi Akinpelu, has officially resigned his membership from the party, citing dissatisfaction with the recent direction and actions of the party leadership.
In a resignation letter dated May 7, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the APC in Ona-Ara Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu said his decision to leave the party was reached after “careful observation and consideration” of developments within the party.

According to him, the “non-progressive actions” of some party leaders in recent times have negatively affected the growth, unity, and public image of the APC, making it difficult for him to continue associating with the party.

Hon. Akinpelu further stressed that, as someone who strongly believes in progressive leadership, accountability, and the welfare of the people, he could no longer align himself with decisions and actions that contradict those ideals.
Despite his resignation, the former APC member expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities given to him during his time in the party, while also wishing the APC and its members success in their future endeavors.
The resignation letter was signed by Hon. Olusogo Akinyemi Akinpelu and takes immediate effect.
