House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, has reaffirmed his steadfast loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its leadership, declaring that he will not be stampeded or frustrated into compromising that allegiance.
In a statement issued today in Ibadan, Babanumi said:
“I won’t be stampeded into reducing my loyalty to the party and its genuine leadership. The leadership of the party will continue to enjoy my loyalty.”
The statement comes amid heightened political activities and speculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
My loyalty is rooted in principle, not personal convenience.
Mayegun Babanumi, known as a devoted and loyal pioneer member of the PDP in Oyo State, emphasized that his allegiance is grounded in principle, structure, and respect for constituted authority.
“As a full-breed son of Ibadanland, I understand that no individual ambition is bigger than the party that provides the platform for service. Structure brings order, and order brings progress,” he stated.
He described Governor Seyi Makinde as a practical leader whose developmental achievements in Oyo State have raised the state’s socio-economic and infrastructural pedigree and therefore deserve more loyalty and commitment from members of the party.
Mayegun Babanumi emphasised to his audience and followers that his aspiration to represent Ibadan North West/South West is driven by a passion to serve, which goes beyond self-conceitedness.
“I believe in character and performance traits over godfatherism and insatiable lust for recognition at the disadvantage of u suspecting and helpless electorates.
Loyalty and integrity are vital for any representative who truly wants to serve the people,” he said.
The aspirant further reiterated that he is “born and bred among the people I seek to represent” and understands the needs of constituents in IBNW and IBSW because he grew up among them.
CALL FOR UNITY WITHIN PDP
Mayegun Babanumi urged party faithful to remain united and resist divisive tendencies, stating that collective effort is the only way to sustain PDP’s gains in Oyo State notwithstanding what is playing out at the National level.
“Gov. Seyi leads and I follow. That is the order of loyalty, and that is how we can keep Oyo State moving forward with collective effort that brings collective benefit,” he concluded.
