Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Oyo South Senatorial District have rallied support for the senatorial ambition of former two-term House of Representatives member, Hon. Dada Awoleye.

This follows a series of consultative meetings held across key political zones in the district.

At the Ibarapa stakeholders’ meeting involving Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, described Awoleye as “a tested legislator whose experience and understanding of grassroots politics make him well suited for the Senate.”

He added, “At this critical time, Oyo South needs a voice that is both effective and responsive, and Hon. Awoleye has demonstrated those qualities over the years.”

 



 

 


Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, said the former lawmaker’s track record stands him out among contemporaries.

“We have seen what he can do. His performance in the House of Representatives speaks volumes, and we believe he can replicate even greater impact at the Senate,” he stated.

Chairman of the Oyo State Library Board, Yemi Taiwo, noted that Awoleye’s leadership style has continued to resonate with party members and constituents alike.

“He carries people along and listens. That is the kind of representation our district deserves at this time,” he said.

In his remarks, the Director-General of the Agency for Persons Living with Disabilities, Adekambi, emphasized inclusivity, saying, “Hon. Awoleye has always shown concern for vulnerable groups.

“We are confident that at the Senate, he will amplify policies that protect and empower persons living with disabilities.”

At the Ibadan South East meeting, Mogaji Abass Oloko expressed confidence in Awoleye’s candidacy, saying, “We know his capacity and we trust his intention.

“He has paid his dues, and it is time to support him to represent us at the red chamber.”

Similarly, Alhaji Kunmi Adesina stated, “Our support is critical for such a trusted hands who has demonstrated visionary leadership and capacity to deliver at both the state and national levels and we believe he will not disappoint Oyo South.”

In Ido Local Government, stakeholders also declared their backing for the former federal lawmaker.

Mallam Muili Yusuff said, “This is not just about politics; it is about credible representation. Awoleye has proven himself capable, and we are ready to stand with him.”

Akinsola Ayuba in his remarks added, “His accessibility and performance over the years give us confidence that he will deliver at the Senate.”

The Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe, in his remarks, stressed the importance of early consensus within the party.

“What we are seeing is a growing unity around a credible aspirant. If we sustain this momentum, victory in 2027 will be assured,” he said.

Across the meetings, stakeholders consistently emphasized Awoleye’s years of experience as both state and federal lawmaker, his grassroots connection and inclusive style of leadership as key reasons for their support, while calling for unity within the PDP to secure success in the forthcoming elections.
