The Oyo State Government has approved the constitution of the 3rd Youth Parliament, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen youth participation in governance and policy development.

The approval was granted by the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to empowering young people and giving them a stronger voice in decision-making processes across the state.

This development followed the kick-off ceremony for the disbursement of ₦1.5 billion to 1,000 beneficiaries under the Youth Entrepreneurs in Agriculture Programme/Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (YEAP-SAfER) initiative at Fasola, Oyo township.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Adebayo Falana, while briefing journalists at his office on the latest development.


 

 

According to him, the inauguration of the 3rd Youth Parliament will also coincide with the valedictory service for members of the 2nd Youth Parliament, marking the successful completion of their tenure.

He noted that the initiative is designed to deepen youth engagement, nurture leadership capacity, and create a platform where young people can actively contribute to governance and the development agenda of the state.

The chairman emphasized that the new parliament will focus on setting a progressive youth agenda, addressing key issues affecting young people, and promoting policies that enhance their socio-economic growth.

He further commended Governor Makinde for his continued support for youth-focused programmes, stressing that the administration remains committed to building a future where young people are not only heard but actively involved in shaping the state’s direction.

The 3rd Youth Parliament is expected to bring together vibrant and forward-thinking youths from across the state, fostering inclusiveness, innovation, and sustainable development.
