The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during the fasting period.

He further encouraged all Nigerians to use the festive occasion to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and continued progress.

While wishing Muslims a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the minister also advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and show compassion to the less privileged.

“The Federal Government remains committed to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians,” the statement added.
