After last Sunday’s disappointing goalless draw against bottom placed Heartland FC of Owerri, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, are battle ready for a showdown against southwest rivals, Sunshine Stars of Akure.
The Ibadan soccer lords had everything working in their favour against the Naze Millionaires in the Matchday eleven tie, but failed to hit the target, as they were held at home for the first time this season.
Having failed to secure the well deserved three points last Sunday, the Oluyole Warriors have everything to play for in this midweek cracker against the Akure based side, who have dropped points at home in previous outings against Heartland FC and Rangers International.
Goalkeeper Ovunda Darlintin, who was virtually on holiday during the tie against Heartland, summed up the desire of the Oluyole Warriors when they take to the pitch on Wednesday against the Owena Waves.
“We were disappointed with the outcome of our game against Heartland. It was not the result we wanted but we will go for victory in the southwest derby”, stated the goalie.
Coach Gbenga Ogunbote, who will be facing his former club, now under the tutelage of his former assistant, Edith Agoye, hopes with a level playing ground, his team could get a positive result in Akure, although he admitted it will be a tough contest.
Both sides shared the spoils the last time they met, which was in the 2021/22 season, with the first leg ending in a 2-2 draw in Ibadan, while they both battled to a nil all draw in the return leg in Akure.
