Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has emphatically stated that there are no longer any vagabonds within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that the party has been fully repositioned for unity, discipline, and purpose.

Governor Makinde made this assertion today during the official commissioning of the newly built Oyo State PDP Secretariat, which he donated as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s institutional framework.

The commissioning ceremony was performed by the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), and was attended by members of the PDP National Working Committee, state executives, party leaders, and party faithful from across the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde expressed deep appreciation to the National Working Committee, the Oyo State PDP executives, and loyal party members for their unwavering support, steadfast belief, and commitment to the ideals of the party, particularly during challenging moments.

In a symbolic move, the governor announced that the newly commissioned secretariat has been named after the late Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha, a former Oyo State PDP Chairman who led the party during the historic 2019 victory that returned the PDP to power in the state.

Makinde described Mustapha as a committed party man whose legacy deserves to be permanently honoured.

The governor also used the occasion to respond sharply to recent comments attributed to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who reportedly expressed interest in PDP affairs in Oyo State.

Makinde questioned Wike’s relevance in Oyo PDP matters, stressing that the affairs of the party in the state remain strictly under the control of its duly elected leadership.

Reiterating his earlier stance, the governor stated that all elements he described as “vagabonds” had been expelled from the PDP since November 2025, adding that the party has since moved forward with renewed focus, cohesion, and discipline.

According to Makinde, the commissioning of the new secretariat symbolizes a new chapter for the PDP in Oyo State—one anchored on unity, loyalty, and collective responsibility towards sustaining good governance and democratic values.
