




The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing the good people of Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as the “exemplary and seamless” hosting of the recent national convention held in Ibadan, noting that the event further reinforced Oyo State’s reputation as a centre of political stability and administrative excellence.
Oyekola gave the commendation on Monday during the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill at the Oyo State House of Assembly complex, where he lauded the governor for projecting the state positively on the national stage and for maintaining an atmosphere conducive to peaceful political engagement.
In his reaction at the house before the budget presentation, the lawmaker representing Atiba State Constituency also used the opportunity to draw attention to the deteriorating condition of the Oyo Federal Constituency road.
He appealed to the state government to prioritise its rehabilitation in the 2026 fiscal year, stressing that the road serves as a major economic and social link for communities across the zone.




According to him, the Jobele junction to Akinmorin to Durbar, Idi-Igba/Akinmorin road, Itosi Bridge, Ilora, and Farm settlement/Ilora road.
Inside Oyo; Oroki/ Emmanuel Alayande road, Ashipa/Abolupe/Logudu/Sabo road, Sabo/ SoroLcda/Express.
Also, Saabo/Oranyan Grammar/Federal Girls College road, as well as long-awarded Atiba FM radio.
According to Oyekola, the poor state of the road has affected mobility, economic activities, and the safety of residents.
The Chief Whip, however on behalf of the lawmaker representing Oyo East/West State Constituency, Hon Olorunpoto Rahaman applauded the Governor for the speedy rehabilitation of the Lautech teaching hospital annex Oyo.
He expressed confidence that the Makinde-led administration known for its ongoing investments in infrastructure would consider the appeal and respond appropriately.
The Chief Whip further pledged the Assembly’s cooperation in ensuring the smooth passage of the 2026 budget, adding that lawmakers remain committed to supporting policies and initiatives that will enhance development across all parts of the state.
