

In a strategic move to consolidate grassroots support ahead of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency Bye-election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the League of Imams and Alfas at the Sango Central Mosque, Elewure, Ibadan.

Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON was warmly received by respected religious leaders from across the 12 wards of Ibadan North Local Government.

He was accompanied by key political figures, including the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade; the Oyo State PDP Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, Hon. Michael Ogunsina; Ward 6 Councillor, Hon. Ibrahim Fairah; Ustaz Ketefe; and several others.
During the introduction, Ustaz Ketefe expressed gratitude to the religious leaders for the opportunity to meet with them and formally introduced members of the delegation.

Speaking on behalf of the League, its Chairman, Imam Muhammad Mustafa Bello Ero, expressed admiration for Hon. Oyekunle’s candidacy, describing him as a humble and respectful individual with a genuine passion for service.

Imam Bello Ero noted that the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, had spoken highly of Hon. Oyekunle and personally urged the League to support his ambition.
“We have enjoyed a long-standing and respectful relationship with Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, who assured us of Hon. Oyekunle’s sincerity, humility, and impactful track record,” Imam Bello Ero stated.
He further noted that notable PDP figures like Hon. Olusoji Alade (SOJ), a Christian, have consistently supported the Muslim community, including sponsoring radio programs throughout the 30 days of Ramadan, while Hon. Bibire sponsored Ramadan TV lectures for the entire holy month.
Imam Bello Ero also commended Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade for his inclusive and non-discriminatory leadership style.
He appreciated the Executive Chairman for consistently supporting the welfare of the League, especially during festive seasons such as Eid-el-Fitr and Eid-el-Kabir.

In his remarks, Hon. Olufade thanked the League for their continuous prayers and support, reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling all promises made to them.
He urged them to rally behind the PDP and support Hon. Oyekunle in the forthcoming bye-election, describing him as “a humanist who loves all and hates none.”

Hon. Michael Ogunsina also praised the League for promoting religious harmony and assured them that the PDP-led administration would continue to prioritize inclusivity, regardless of religious background.

Ward 6 Councillor, Hon. Ibrahim Fairah, emphasized the importance of the League’s full support for Hon. Oyekunle, describing him as “reliable, humble, and responsible.”

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON) expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the vital role of the religious community as moral and spiritual guides.

“I see humanity above politics,” he stated.
“I promise to always engage with people in humility and serve with a heart committed to positive impact.”

“I value your role in society and deeply respect the influence you command,” he added.
“My mission is to serve the people selflessly, with humility and the fear of God.”
