

The founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF), Agba’Akin Oloye Benedict Akika, recently played host to top officials of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Oyo State Council, alongside representatives from the South West Zonal and National levels, during a courtesy visit to his Ibadan residence.
The visit, which was both symbolic and strategic, was aimed at showing solidarity and appreciation for the philanthropic impact of the OBF across Oyo State. The VGN delegation commended Chief Akika for his consistent dedication to humanitarian services, youth empowerment, and community development.
In their remarks, the VGN leadership lauded the tireless efforts of Agba’Akin Akika in supporting vulnerable communities and enhancing social welfare. They described him as a rare breed whose passion for public good has earned him the respect of both the grassroots and elite.
As part of the visit, the VGN officially presented a letter of appointment naming Agba’Akin Benedict Akika as the Grand Patron of the VGN Oyo State Council. The presentation, witnessed by members of the Omituntun Benedict Forum, namely; Elder Kolapo, Hon Kolawole Solomon; Ward 3 Councillor, Kemi Ajao; Woman leaderand other members was met with applause and admiration.
While expressing gratitude for the honor, Chief Akika reaffirmed his commitment to supporting community security and welfare.
He also called on meaningful individuals to give greater support to local security initiatives like the VGN to strengthen safety and vigilance across the state.
The VGN, in turn, appealed for more logistical and financial support from philanthropists and the state government to enable them to operate more effectively in securing communities.
The meeting ended on a high note, reinforcing the growing synergy between non-state actors and security stakeholders in the state.
