It’s not only laughable but highly disheartening to see the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) attempt to cover hip their palpable fear of the potential emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde’s potential emergence as the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2027 presidential election, a man whose governance record continues to shine across Nigeria.
In a recent press statement released by the party’s state publicity secretary where he indirectly allayed his fears and that of his party in the potential candidacy of Seyi Makinde, that which was as a result of the governors recent interview where he declared his capacity to run for the highest office of the land, while the governor didn’t state categorically if he’d be joining the race, his statement has sent deep fear to party due to their understanding of the enormity of love Seyi Makinde has gannered in less than six years of public service.
First, let’s educate them—capacity means the ability, the competence, the readiness to take on responsibility and deliver results. Governor Seyi Makinde has not only shown capacity; he has defined it.
From day one, his style of leadership has been focused, people-oriented, strategic, and results-driven. He has excelled beyond all his predecessors—fact, not flattery.
From infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic reforms, youth empowerment, to public sector innovation, Governor Makinde has positioned Oyo State as a model of what governance should be.
The state has become a benchmark for good governance across the federation. He has won multiple leadership awards—not as a politician who talks, but as a leader who delivers.
unlike the APC led federal government that has brought so much pain and discomfort to the people of Nigeria, plunging over hundreds of million Nigerian into poverty and turning an average common man to a beggar due to inflation.
In fact, Nigerians from far north to the Deep South are calling on Governor Seyi Makinde’s to rescue us from a tyrannical government that obviously lacks idea and clear vision of governance.
The entire world now knows Oyo State, not for political thuggery or backwardness, but for vision, growth, and progress—thanks to Makinde. He turned Oyo from a forgotten entity into a global example of what bold leadership looks like.
And what has the Oyo APC done in all this time? Absolutely nothing. They’re on auto-pilot, lacking leadership, direction, and even a voice.
Instead of raising their voices to call their president to order, especially over the tragedy in Plateau and the deepening insecurity across Nigeria, they waste energy attacking the only governor in the Southwest who is consistently delivering results.
The truth is, if the Oyo State APC had half the intelligence, courage, and vision of Seyi Makinde, they wouldn’t be wallowing in political obscurity.
The rancor-free PDP Southwest Congress, harmonized under Makinde’s leadership, is a clear proof of his political mastery and diplomatic prowess—something the APC clearly lacks.
In fact, it is only when the name Seyi Makinde is mentioned that people remember APC still exists in Oyo State. That alone says a lot.
A Seyi Makinde candidacy will would be a great disaster to the APC as it will expose the inadequacy of the Tinubu led federal government and an opportunity for Nigerians to escape from a tyrannical and insensitive capitalist government that derives pride and pleasure in inflicting pain and hunger on Nigerians while purchasing exotic aircrafts, voyagers and vehicles and enriching their cronies at the expense of poor Nigerians.
Finally, Oyo APC should face their crisis rocking her where a significant number of their members and leaders had concluded plans to join the former governor of kaduna state in a new party, by the time they Teslim Folarin led bloc of the party vacate, the party wouod be a shadow of itself.
