The retired Controller of Prisons (Corrections) and Mogaji of Ibikunle Abaa Royal Dynasty, Labiran, Ibadan, Chief M.O.O. Olaniran (CP Rtd.), FSPSP, has expressed his joy and that of his family on the well-deserved promotion of his dear friend, Tunji Disu, to the enviable rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIGP).

Mogaji Olaniran reminisced about his longstanding friendship with the newly promoted AIG, stating:

“In 2008, I was posted from the National Headquarters, Abuja, to head Owo Prison, as it was then called—now a Correctional Centre.

It was there that I met my best police officer friend ever, CSP Rilwan Olatunji Disu, alongside his counterpart in the FRSC, Lanre Lasisi Ogundele (ACC), popularly called ‘Lima-Lima.’

Since then, our bond has been nothing short of remarkable.

In fact, the then Olowo of Owo, Oba Dr. Victor Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi III (of blessed memory), was so fascinated by our friendship that he once asked us at his palace during the 2008 Igogo Festival: ‘Are you sure you had never met before coming to Owo? How come you relate like friends from secondary school? Honestly, I feel your presence and appreciate your cooperation, comradeship, and understanding.’

Mogaji Olaniran emphasized that the Olowo’s words not only validated their friendship but also strengthened their mutual bond, which has remained solid to this day.

Over time, CSP Olaniran (Prisons), CSP Disu (Police), and ACC Ogundele (FRSC) became known as the “Three Musketeers” of Owo—a title that reflected their unbreakable camaraderie.

Even when duty postings later separated them—Olaniran serving on the United Nations Mission in Liberia, Disu moving to Rivers State, and Ogundele relocating to Ogun State—their friendship remained intact.

They continued to socialize, celebrate milestones together, and support one another through life’s ups and downs, alongside their beloved wives: Yemisi, Bimpe, and Funmilola.

This rare bond, uniting officers from three different services, transcended professional ties and became a true family relationship.

The depth of their connection was evident in the way they stood by each other through major life events—from Olaniran’s daughter’s wedding in Ibadan in 2012, his mother’s funeral in 2013, and his retirement ceremony in Abeokuta in 2021, to Ogundele’s father’s burial in Eripa, Osun State, and his wife’s parents’ funerals in Ejigbo.

Likewise, they rejoiced together at Disu’s wife’s 50th birthday in Lagos, his in-law’s burial in Epe, and his daughter’s recent wedding.

Mogaji Olaniran described AIG Tunji Disu as a hardworking, brilliant, and easygoing gentleman—a police officer with humility, integrity, and a great sense of humor.

“Knowing Tunji Disu is a privilege you can never regret.

We are grateful to God for how far he has come, and we pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants him even greater success in his distinguished career.”

In conclusion, he congratulated his dear friend, his wife, Alhaja Funmilola, their children, Baba Agba, Alhaji Disu, and Grandma, Alhaja, for witnessing this glorious milestone.

“Ki Olorun ma se jeki eleye siwaju o.” (May God continue to uplift and bless you.) Amin!
