Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, on Monday, inspected the Moribund Oyo township Fire Service office, Akesan Market, with a pledge to ensure its total resuscitation.
It could be recalled that the said Fire Service was attacked on 5th January 2020, in which the Akesan market was gutted by an early morning inferno before it was rehabilitated by the Ọyọ State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE.
Speaking during the on-the-spot inspection, Hon. Akinwande expressed concern over the deplorable state of the fire office, a vehicle destroyed during the market inferno attack by the angry youth which has made it to be out of operation for years.
He, however, assured the staff and public as the agency Chairman, he’ll use his position to communicate with His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde on total rehabilitation of the office with state-of-the-art moving equipment. Stressing that his administration was committed to rehabilitating the ongoing construction at the office and restoring fire safety services in Òyó township back to its glory.
He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the office is equipped with modern equipment and trained personnel.
In his remarks, Oyo Zonal Commander Mr. Abegunde applauded the newly appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reforms and Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service Agency for his progressive visit and inspection of the Zonal Office.
He stated that the Oyo township fire office needs serious government attention, claiming that he’s optimistic that Hin. Akinwande-led team remains a solutions provider courtesy of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde so that Oyo Zonal Fire will return to responding to fire outbreaks.
The inspection and subsequent pledge by Hon. Akinwande have been hailed as a welcome development by residents, who have long called for the rehabilitation of the fire office. With this move, Hon. Akinwande has demonstrated his commitment to improving fire safety services in Oyo State.
